Norstella seeks a Senior Forge AI Engineer to lead the design and deployment of a greenfield agentic platform, Forge, across orchestration, multi-agent coordination, and RAG pipelines. You will own critical components end-to-end in production.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of software engineering experience with at least 2 years in production agentic systems.
• Experience with at least one agentic framework and understanding of trade-offs.
• Authoring MCP servers or designing tool-use APIs with versioning and contracts.
• Experience with agent memory architectures and long-term memory stores.
• Strong Python and/or TypeScript fundamentals for production code.
• Proficiency in prompt engineering, tool/function calling, and multi-step orchestration.
• Familiarity with RAG patterns, vector databases, and LLM evaluation methodologies.
• Knowledge of AI safety engineering practices and OWASP LLM Top 10.

Responsibilities

• Design and build agents across the Forge chain — orchestration, tool-use surfaces, MCP server integrations, RAG pipelines.
• Own multi-agent coordination architecture including trust boundaries and failure recovery.
• Build and evolve the MCP server layer with versioning and capability contracts.
• Design agent memory and state management across multi-step workflows.
• Own agent quality end-to-end with eval harnesses and benchmarks.
• Instrument observability — tracing, logging, and cost attribution per run.
• Develop safe-by-design primitives for least-privilege tool-use and data handling.
