Job summary

Salas O'Brien, Inc. is seeking a Forensic Structural Engineer for a remote (home office) role serving the St. Louis, MO area. You will investigate structural damage from storms, fires, defects, and other events, then document findings in professional reports.

Required are 2+ years in forensic engineering, a PE license in MO or IL or eligibility, and strong written/verbal communication. ABET-accredited degree is required, with MS preferred.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of forensic engineering experience preferred.
• Must be able to work independently and with cross-functional teams.
• Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills are required.
• Legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Conduct site inspections to determine cause and extent of structural damage.
• Develop clear, well-supported conclusions and high-quality reports.
• Communicate with clients, contractors, and stakeholders throughout engagements.
• Work from a home office while leveraging internal experts and resources.
• Drive issues to resolution and ensure deliverables meet standards.
• Contribute ideas to strengthen processes and tools.
