Job summary

NV5 is seeking a Forensics Structural Engineer to lead forensic assessments and manage projects remotely within the Houston, TX area. The role involves site visits, client communications, expert reports, and potential testimony in litigation across the region.

Ideal candidates hold a PE license (Florida or transferable) and have strong knowledge of building codes, with experience in residential/commercial inspection and a drive for professional growth within forensics engineering.

Qualifications

• PE license in Florida or ability to obtain within 6 months of start date.
• Knowledge of building codes and standards; construction practices.
• Litigation experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Communicate with clients before/after site visits and post-report production.
• Conduct on-site interviews to collect histories and data.
• Photograph site conditions and determine cause of loss.
• Develop conclusions with applicable codes and standards; support defensibility.
• Maintain organized project data storage and management.
• Supervise junior engineers in field work and report development when appropriate.
• Develop reports detailing site observations, findings, and conclusions.
• Testify in legal proceedings when required.
