Job summary

NV5 is seeking a Sr. Forensic Engineer in a Hybrid/Remote capacity in Orlando, FL. You will lead structural forensic assignments, develop reports, and serve as an expert in litigation with travel within 150 miles as needed.

The role requires PE licensure in Florida or ability to obtain within 6 months, 5+ years of experience, and strong knowledge of building codes and standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, or Architecture Engineering.
• MS degree in Civil/Structural Engineering preferred.
• PE license in Florida or ability to obtain within 6 months of start date.
• 5+ years of structural forensic engineering experience.
• Knowledge of building codes and standards; litigation experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Communicate with clients before and after site visits and post report production, to review/clarify scopes and explain observations and findings.
• Perform on-site interviews with a variety of individuals to collect histories, data, concerns, etc.
• Photograph site conditions with an eye to explain conditions and determine the cause of loss.
• Review codes, standards, and research, and apply critical formulation of facts to develop conclusions that assist clients in resolving concerns and are defensible.
• Maintain good project data management and storage practices.
• Supervise, when appropriate, junior engineers (EIs) in field work, report development, and research.
• Develop reports that outline site observations, applicable codes, standards, findings, and conclusions.
• Testify in legal proceedings, when required, in correlation to work product.

As our Sr. Forensic Engineer, you will manage structural forensic engineering assignments, perform forensic engineering assessments, provide verbal/written reports for insurance carriers, attorneys, homeowners, property managers, etc.

You will also serve as an expert for multiple litigation cases. This requires constant travel within 150 miles of your office location and occasional travel for work with other NV5 office locations and staff or geographic regions.

Qualifications

• B.S. Degree in Civil, Structural, or Architecture Engineering.
• M.S. Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering is preferred.
• Residential and/or Commercial inspection & assessment experience is a plus.
• Knowledge of building codes and standards and construction practices is required. Litigation experience is a plus.
• Professional Engineering (PE) license in Florida, or the ability to obtain one within 6 months of start date.
• 5+ years of experience.
