Job summary

NV5 is seeking a Forensic Structural Engineer for a remote role based in Dallas, TX. The engineer will lead structural forensic assessments, manage assignments, and provide reports for insurers, attorneys, homeowners, and property managers. Travel within 150 miles and occasional cross-office collaboration are required as part of project delivery.

Ideal candidates will have a B.S. in Civil/Structural Engineering, PE license (Florida or eligible within 6 months), and experience in building codes,

Qualifications

• B.S. Degree in Civil, Structural, or Architecture Engineering.
• M.S. Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering is preferred.
• Residential and/or Commercial inspection & assessment experience is a plus.
• Knowledge of building codes and standards and construction practices is required. Litigation experience is a plus.
• Professional Engineering (PE) license in Florida, or ability to obtain one within 6 months of start date.

Responsibilities

• Communicate with clients before/after site visits and post report production, to review scopes and explain observations.
• Conduct on-site interviews to collect histories, data, concerns, etc.
• Photograph site conditions and determine causes of loss with clear explanations.
• Review codes, standards, and research to formulate defensible conclusions for clients.
• Maintain organized project data management/storage practices.
• Supervise junior engineers in field work, report development, and research as appropriate.
• Develop reports outlining site observations, applicable codes, standards, findings, and conclusions.
• Testify in legal proceedings when required, in correlation to work product.
