Job summary

Rimkus is seeking a seasoned fire investigator to determine origins and causes of fires across residential and commercial settings. You will secure scenes, perform on-site analyses, collect evidence, prepare detailed reports, and provide testimony as needed.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in fire investigation, an AAS in Fire Science or related field, and a path toward IAAI-CFI certification. Strong analytical and communication skills are a must.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of fire investigation experience.
• AAS in Fire Science, Fire Investigation, Forensic Science, or related field.
• IAAI-CFI certification preferred; ability to obtain IAAI-CFI within 18 months.
• NAFI-CFEI with ability to obtain an IAAI-CFI within 18 months.

Responsibilities

• Determine origin and cause of fires and explosions in various properties.
• Secure fire/explosion scenes to preserve evidence.
• Perform on-site forensic fire analysis including photography and witness interviews.
• Collect and label evidence; maintain chain of custody.
• Provide technical support to clients for subrogation and litigation.
• Conduct code compliance research (electrical, gas, fire, building codes).
• Lead continuing education seminars on fire-related topics.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
