Job summary

The Rector & Visitors of the University of Virginia (UVA) seeks applications for a FOIA/eDiscovery Paralegal for the 2026-27 Academic Year. This part-time wage role works 24 hours weekly to assist the FOIA Officer/eDiscovery Manager and UVA litigation attorneys.

Located in Charlottesville, VA, the position may allow remote work at times and is not eligible for leave benefits. 1+ year experience preferred, with high school diploma required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 1+ year of relevant FOIA/eDiscovery support experience requested.
• Graduate degree in a related field preferred.
• Ability to manage FOIA/eDiscovery logs and document preservation notices.

Responsibilities

• Assist with FOIA requests and subpoenas
• Maintain and update FOIA/eDiscovery logs and shared drives
• Communicate with custodians of records
• Draft responses to FOIA and eDiscovery requests and subpoenas
• Monitor FOIA and eDiscovery response deadlines
• Draft Preservation Notices related to litigation
• Support lawyers with an array of legal assistant tasks
• Prepare litigation notebooks and organize case files
• File legal documents with courts as needed
• Other duties as assigned
