Job summary

The Office of the University Counsel at the University of Virginia seeks a part-time FOIA/eDiscovery Paralegal for the 2026-27 Academic Year. The role supports the FOIA Officer/eDiscovery Manager and UVA litigation attorneys, handling FOIA requests, subpoenas, and preservation notices.

Based in Charlottesville with occasional remote work, the position is a wage role limited to 1500 hours per year and pays $22.00–$25.00 per hour.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience: 1+ year of relevant experience required.
• Preferred: Four-year degree and administrative support experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist with FOIA requests and subpoenas
• Maintain and update OUC FOIA/eDiscovery logs
• Communicate with custodians of records sought
• Draft responses to FOIA and eDiscovery requests
• Monitor FOIA and eDiscovery response deadlines
• Draft Preservation Notices related to actual and anticipated litigation
• Prepare litigation notebooks and exhibits
• File legal documents with courts, as needed
