Job summary

Mount Sinai Medical Center is seeking an Experienced Inpatient Coding Specialist for a fully remote Florida-based role. The candidate will code inpatient charts using ICD-10-CM/PCS and validate POAs, ensuring 95% accuracy while abstracting clinical data and maintaining knowledge of coding guidance.

Proficiency in Epic and 3M 360 Encompass encoder is required, along with the ability to write compliant physician queries and complete 30 hours of CE annually. Florida residency is required.

Qualifications

• Accurately code inpatient records using ICD-10-CM/PCS with 95% accuracy.
• Review clinical documentation to assign appropriate codes and POAs.

Responsibilities

• Code inpatient charts with ICD-10-CM/PCS and POA to reflect DRG/SOI/ROM with 95%+ accuracy.
• Abstract coding and clinical data (discharge disposition, patient type) with high accuracy.
• Update knowledge of coding guidelines and attend ongoing education.
• Respond to emails/EPIC queues within 24–48 hours.
• Write physician queries to improve documentation and coding accuracy.
