Job summary

Associates in Pediatric Therapy (APT) seeks Indiana First Steps Developmental Therapists to support children birth to age 3. Roles cover Clarksville and Terre Haute areas, with primary work in homes, daycares, and community settings.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in early childhood or special education (with an early childhood focus).
• Bachelor’s degree in communication disorders may be considered for DT-C role.
• Related degrees may be considered if at least 15 hours of coursework in child development is completed.
• Preferred candidates have at least one year of Part C early intervention experience (DT-EC).
• Ability to travel to homes, daycares, and other community settings within the service area.
• Excellent communication skills – oral and written.
• First-year developmental therapists with no Part C early intervention experience must enroll at the associate level (DT-A) and receive one year of supervision.
• After one year of supervision, DT-A may request enrollment as DT-EC or DT-C.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and treat pediatric patients birth to age 3 in cognitive, social-emotional, self-help, communication, and motor development.
• Work primarily in homes, daycares, community centers, and may work in other APT offices or contract locations.
• Provide therapy to support highest functioning and prevent regression.
• Document treatment sessions and progress/evaluation reports in detail.
• Maintain licensure, professional competencies, and ethical standards.
