Expect to shape strategy, grow leadership, and govern vendor relationships across Coinbase’s AI tooling stack. The role emphasizes building scalable AI infrastructure, collaborating with Product and engineering teams, and guiding the next generation of AI foundations leadership

Qualifications

• Lead the AI Foundations engineering team and set a 2027 strategy and roadmap.
• Drive operational excellence of AI primitives/services.
• Deliver LLM Gateway, MCP Gateway, and pave the road for model routing and evaluations.

Responsibilities

• Lead AI Foundations engineering, including hiring, coaching, and delivery across shared AI services.
• Collaborate with Product and senior engineers to balance rapid AI innovation with reliability, security, and cost.
• Own vendor relationships and coordinate with Security, Legal, and Finance on AI governance and spend controls.
