Job summary

n8n is seeking a Senior Frontend Platform Engineer to shape the frontend foundations powering its workflow-building experience. You’ll own platform architecture, primitives, and contracts while advancing canvas and real-time collaboration, usability, and performance across large frontend applications.

You will drive architectural decisions, mentor peers, and collaborate with product, QA, DX, Security, staff architects, and the open-source community to ensure smooth integration.

Qualifications

• Complex frontend systems such as canvas-based tools or collaborative editors.
• Strong TypeScript frontend experience in a large evolving codebase.
• Ownership of meaningful frontend systems, migrations, or re-architecting areas.
• Ability to measure, debug, and improve runtime performance at scale.
• Clarify trade-offs, maintainability, and long-term scalability in design decisions.
• Excellent cross-functional communication and collaboration across teams.
• Willingness to refactor, modularize, reduce tech debt, and improve existing systems.

Responsibilities

• Own and evolve frontend platform architecture including core primitives and platform contracts.
• Design canvas architecture and real-time collaboration using WebSockets or CRDT-like patterns.
• Improve rendering performance, runtime behavior, and responsiveness of complex experiences.
• Contribute to frontend infrastructure such as web worker orchestration and tooling.
• Drive technical decisions with RFCs and collaborate with product, QA, DX, Security and open-source communities.
