Job summary

Coinbase in the United States seeks a backend engineer to design and operate stablecoin-based money movement infrastructure. You will own key projects end-to-end and build scalable APIs powering payments, payouts, deposits, and withdrawals across the Coinbase ecosystem.

Collaborate with Product, Design, Infrastructure, and Compliance to balance speed, security, and regulatory needs, improve performance, and raise the technical bar.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of software engineering experience building backend systems.
• Proficiency in Go or Java and cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP).
• Experience as DRI driving end-to-end delivery.
• Experience with blockchain/crypto technologies such as stablecoins, on-chain payments.
• Ability to write technical design documents and communicate architecture trade-offs.

Responsibilities

• Own key projects end-to-end as the Directly Responsible Individual, driving stablecoin-based money movement features from system design through production deployment.
• Build backend systems, infrastructure, and internal/external APIs enabling embed of stablecoin payments.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, Infrastructure, and Compliance to balance speed, security, and regulatory needs.
• Improve performance, scalability, and reliability across distributed systems and address bottlenecks before impact.
• Support engineering quality through code reviews and architectural best practices.
