Job summary

Coinbase is hiring for a backend engineering role focused on stablecoin-based payments and the infrastructure powering global transfers. You will own projects end-to-end as the Directly Responsible Individual, designing and deploying scalable, secure backend services and APIs that enable partners to embed stablecoin-powered payments.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of software engineering experience building and operating backend systems.
• Proficiency in backend languages Go and Java and cloud infrastructure AWS and GCP.
• DRI for technical projects, delivering end-to-end design through production.
• Experience with blockchain/crypto tech: stablecoins, on-chain payments, smart contracts (Ethereum, Solana, Base).
• Ability to write technical design documents and communicate trade-offs to stakeholders.
• Responsible use of generative AI with human oversight to improve workflows.

Responsibilities

• Own key projects end-to-end as the DRI, driving features from design to production deployment.
• Build backend systems, infrastructure, and internal/external APIs for stablecoin-based payments.
• Partner with Product, Design, Infrastructure, and Compliance to translate requirements into robust solutions.
• Execute performance, scalability, and reliability improvements across distributed systems.
• Support the team’s engineering quality through code reviews and architectural patterns.
