Job summary

Coinbase is seeking an Offensive Security Engineer to join the Application Security team. You will develop AI-driven security tooling, scale vulnerability discovery with frontier models, and collaborate across Vulnerability Management, Offensive Security, and Incident Response to shift how we operate.

You will own AI-augmented testing and contribute to building production-grade security tooling while mentoring teammates to expand the team's capabilities.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in application security, penetration testing, or offensive security.
• Hands-on use of LLMs/frontier models to automate tasks and build scanners.
• Red teaming AI-based systems including prompt injection and tool abuse.
• Strong understanding of OWASP Top 10 and SANS Top 25 vulnerabilities.
• Proficiency in Python, Go, or similar for production-grade tooling.
• Use of generative AI with human oversight for reliable outputs.

Responsibilities

• Build, deploy, and maintain AI-powered security scanners at scale.
• Lead red teaming against internal AI systems and assess jailbreak risks.
• Develop AI-driven vulnerability triage, validation, and remediation workflows.
• Collaborate with engineering to verify fixes for critical vulnerabilities.
• Mentor junior security engineers on integrating AI into offensive security.
