Job summary

Vitaver & Associates, Inc is seeking a Fire Safety Engineer for a remote, Florida-based 12-month project. You will review UL 9540a reports, design fire safety systems for BESS projects, and ensure NFPA/UL/IFC compliance while coordinating with AHJs and first responders.

In addition, you will perform hazard analyses, CFD simulations, ERP/EOP planning, and support stakeholder education. Occasional travel to local jurisdictions may be required, with potential project extensions.

Qualifications

• Experience with fire safety for utility-scale BESS projects.
• Familiar with UL 9540a reports and NFPA/UL/IFC standards.
• Ability to perform hazard analyses and CFD simulations.
• Knowledge of fire safety system design for BESS manufacturers.

Responsibilities

• Act as Fire Safety SME for utility-scale BESS projects.
• Review UL 9540a reports at multiple levels and provide direction.
• Analyze and guide fire safety system designs for projects.
• Ensure compliance with UL, NFPA, and IFC codes and standards.
• Oversee safety analyses including HMA, FMEA, heat flux, and CFD.
• Engage with national/state/local fire institutions and AHJs.
• Travel to local jurisdictions to present BESS and fire safety to stakeholders.
