The U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service, Division of Fire, invites applications for a Fire Instructor who will lead fire suppression training and develop new service-wide programs.

You will serve as SME for the Structure Fire Training Program, guiding education, design, and evaluation for diverse NPS sites. You will also provide expert guidance on policy development and implementation for fire protection, training, and prevention, shaping training curricula and program

Qualifications

  • Fire Management knowledge of concepts, principles, and fire behavior, including prescribed fire methods and detection/suppression.
  • Education and Training knowledge for teaching, presentations, testing, and instructional methods.
  • Compliance knowledge of procedures for assessing and monitoring programs for adherence to federal laws and guidance.
  • Leadership skills to coach, mentor, and guide subordinates and model integrity.
  • Decision Making to make sound, well-informed decisions and drive action.

Responsibilities

  • Instruct fire suppression classes and related courses delivered to NPS sites.
  • Serve as SME for Structure Fire Training Program; advise on education, design, and evaluation.
  • Plan and develop experimental training programs and implement service-wide updates.
  • Provide guidance on protection, training, and prevention aspects of fire management policy.
