Job summary

FinOps Weekly is seeking a Remote FinOps Specialist to support a federal customer with cloud financial management, governance, and budget discipline. You will partner with engineering, procurement, and finance to optimize costs, improve visibility, and ensure compliant spend controls.

The role emphasizes biweekly reporting, cost allocation, and ongoing cost governance across AWS, Azure, and GCP, with strong stakeholder communication in English.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, CS, IS, Business Administration, or related field.
• 3+ years in cloud financial management, FinOps, IT finance, or related discipline.
• Experience with cloud cost management tools such as AWS Cost Explorer, Azure Cost Management, GCP Billing, CloudHealth, Apptio Cloudability, or similar.
• Experience developing chargeback/showback models in multi-team environments.
• Strong understanding of cloud pricing, billing, and cost-optimization strategies across providers.
• Experience producing dashboards and financial reports for technical and non-technical audiences.
• Ability to forecast cloud spend and perform variance analysis.
• Familiarity with tagging governance and cost attribution.

Responsibilities

• Analyze cloud spend across AWS, Azure, and GCP to identify trends, anomalies, optimization opportunities, and risks.
• Develop and maintain chargeback and showback models for accurate cost allocation.
• Build and deliver biweekly dashboards and reports covering spend trends, variances, utilization, and forecasts.
• Monitor cloud budgets, forecast spend, and provide variance analysis to leadership.
• Collaborate with engineering, cloud, and DevOps on cost-saving actions such as rightsizing, savings plans, and tagging improvements.
• Support cloud cost-governance policies, tagging standards, allocation rules, and budget controls.
• Partner with procurement on pricing agreements and discount programs.
• Track and validate ODC records and COR pre-approvals.
• Document models, dashboards, forecasts, and governance decisions.
