The Financial Manager plays a critical strategic role in managing and overseeing the financial operations across multiple interconnected companies. You'll maintain financial accuracy, lead proactive financial modeling, optimize financial systems, and provide oversight and direction to the financial operations team.
Responsibilities:
Financial Oversight & Strategic Management
- Maintain comprehensive financial records, forecasts, cash flow projections, and multi-company financial statements.
- Regularly reconcile and supervise intercompany transfers, ensuring clarity and accuracy across Construction, Property Management, Investing, and Real Estate entities.
- Review and validate monthly financial reports, proactively identifying discrepancies and delegating corrections.
Team Supervision & Development
- Directly supervise the Operational Financial Coordinator and the Bookkeeper, overseeing their daily and weekly schedules and responsibilities.
- Collaborate with the CEO to regularly reassess and realign the roles, responsibilities, and weekly schedules to ensure optimal financial accuracy, efficiency, and team performance.
- Delegate accounting and financial tasks appropriately, focusing your efforts on oversight, strategic decision-making, and process refinement rather than daily accounting operations.
Collaboration & Communication
- Regularly communicate and collaborate with Directors of Operations from Construction, Property Management, and Real Estate Agent divisions to gather critical financial assumptions, refine forecasts, and ensure budgets align with operational realities.
- Partner closely with external CPAs and tax professionals to ensure seamless year-end financial preparation, accurate tax reporting, and compliance audits.
Process Optimization & SOP Development
- Create, refine, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all financial activities, including bookkeeping standards, intercompany transaction procedures, and investor reporting.
- Develop training materials and SOPs for proper financial categorization within AppFolio and QuickBooks, ensuring clarity for property managers and remote team members.
Investor Reporting & Financial Analysis
- Support the CEO in creating clear, insightful, and timely investor reports, providing accurate financial performance metrics.
- Analyze critical financial data (ROI, operating expenses, asset performance statistics) to inform strategic decisions.
Software & Financial Tools Management
- Manage and optimize financial operations within QuickBooks, AppFolio, Excel/Google Sheets, and Trello.
- Evaluate and recommend technology enhancements to increase financial operational efficiency.
Cleanup & Troubleshooting
- Lead and delegate critical financial cleanup projects, identifying discrepancies, diagnosing problems, and clearly assigning corrective tasks to your team to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Qualifications, Skills, and Key Competencies:
- Extensive financial modeling, forecasting, and strategic planning experience.
- Strong accounting knowledge (CPA designation or extensive accounting background highly preferred).
- Advanced proficiency with QuickBooks, Excel/Google Sheets, and familiarity with AppFolio.
- Proven ability to create, implement, and supervise comprehensive financial processes and SOPs.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail capabilities.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, effectively interacting with cross-functional teams and external partners.
- Capability for autonomous project management and proactive leadership
