Job summary

1ST UNITED METHODIST CH ARLING in Arlington Heights seeks a Finance Manager to oversee church finances, payroll, and financial reporting to committees and outside bodies. You will support pastors, staff, trustees, and chairs with accurate accounting.

The role requires accounting experience, payroll knowledge, and fluency with QuickBooks and Excel; 16–20 hours per week with flexible work-from-home options.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred and 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience in accounting or bookkeeping and overseeing budget and payroll processes.
• Knowledge of church management software such as QuickBooks or similar accounting software.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel.
• Good team-building skills and understanding of church operations.
• Patience, humor and a welcoming spirit are valued.

Responsibilities

• Oversee payroll for church staff and preschool staff.
• Manage accounts payable and vendor payments with proper approvals.
• Prepare monthly financial reports for pastor, finance committee and trustees.
• Record contributions and oversee offertory processing and special gifts.
• Assist Finance Committee with budgets and pledge campaigns.
