Job summary

Auto-Owners Insurance is seeking a motivated Field Premium Auditor. This role entails auditing insured records to determine exposure classifications and premium bases, and delivering reports to Underwriting.

You will interact with insureds, agents, claims, and underwriting teams to ensure accurate coverage and pricing. The position requires driving to audit locations, scheduling weekly appointments, and making recommendations for coverage adjustments based on observed exposures.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Has completed or is in the process of completing the APA designation.
• These requirements may be waived or changed, at Company discretion, based on prior education and/or experience.
• Ability to drive an automobile, possess a valid driver license and maintain a driving record consistent with the Company’s underwriting guidelines for coverage.

Responsibilities

• Audit insured records to determine proper exposure classifications and premium basis and provide reports and recommendations to Underwriting.
• Determine exposure classification, premium basis and scope of operations through observation, discussions with insureds and reviewing accounting records for assigned policies.
• Report and discuss exposures on an insured’s property to determine underwriting eligibility and acceptability.
• Communicate with claims, underwriting associates, agents and insureds.
• Make recommendations to Underwriting to terminate coverage based on observed exposure to loss.
• Manage assigned territory by scheduling audits to maximize the number of physical audits completed.
• Establish weekly agenda of scheduled appointments.
