Job summary

3M in Minnesota is seeking a Field Application Engineer for Optical Interconnects to apply technical expertise and engage with customers across data center and high-speed networks. You will serve as a technical interface, support design-in activities, and lead product demonstrations and investigations with sales teams and partners.

The role requires a BS or higher, 3 years in a customer-facing technical role, 2 years in high-speed interconnects, and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher completed and verified prior to start.
• 3 years of experience in a customer-facing technical, applications engineering, systems engineering, or product support role.
• 2 years of experience with high-speed interconnect technologies, including optical fiber and/or copper connectivity.
• Current, valid Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a technical interface between 3M and customers for optical interconnect solutions.
• Support customer design-in activities for fiber optic connectivity and high-speed systems.
• Provide technical consultation to customers, sales teams and channel partners on product selection and integration.
• Lead technical discussions, product demonstrations, evaluations and troubleshooting for customer applications.
• Drive adoption of interconnect solutions by understanding customer architectures and roadmap needs.
• Collaborate with product development, manufacturing and QA to convey customer needs.
