Job summary

Commercial Programming Systems, Inc. (CPS) seeks a senior Fiber Optic Test Engineer to lead testing, certification, troubleshooting, and closeout activities on large-scale data center projects.

This hands-on leadership role requires expertise with MPO/MTP and LC fiber systems, and with test equipment from Fluke, EXFO, and VIAVI. You will own the testing process from field execution to client deliverables, mentor technicians, review results, and produce client-facing test reports.

Qualifications

• 10–15+ years of fiber optic/network infrastructure experience.
• Strong data center experience with hyperscale or NeoCloud preferred.
• Advanced hands-on testing with MPO/MTP and LC fiber.

Responsibilities

• Lead Tier 1 and Tier 2 fiber testing and certification for data center infrastructure.
• Test and troubleshoot MPO/MTP, LC, single-mode, and multimode fiber.
• Operate Fluke, EXFO, and VIAVI fiber testing and OTDR equipment.
• Analyze insertion loss, OTDR traces, polarity failures, dirty connectors, damaged fibers and other link failures.
• Read rack elevations, port maps, pull schedules, cable schedules, and drawings.
• Support rack-and-stack, patching, cross-connects, and high-density fiber environments.
• Ensure testing meets project, customer, industry, and cable manufacturer specifications.
• Review certification results and prepare accurate client-facing test reports and closeout packages.
• Lead, train, and mentor fiber technicians and develop technicians capable of independently supporting testing operations.
• Must be willing to travel up to 90%.

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Fiber Optic Test Engineer / TPL to lead fiber testing, certification, troubleshooting, and closeout activities on large-scale data center projects. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring strong experience with MPO/MTP and LC fiber systems, Fluke/EXFO/VIAVI test equipment, rack-and-stack environments, test report validation, and technician leadership.

The candidate must be capable of owning the testing process from field execution through final client deliverables.

Key Responsibilities

Required Skills & Experience

• 10–15+ years preferred in fiber optic/network infrastructure.
• Strong data center experience; Hyperscale or NeoCloud experience highly preferred.
• Advanced hands-on experience testing MPO/MTP and LC fiber.
• Experience with Fluke CertiFiber/OptiFiber, EXFO, and/or VIAVI platforms.
• Strong knowledge of Tier 1/Tier 2 testing, OTDR, insertion loss, polarity, loss budgets, fiber inspection, and certification.
• Ability to troubleshoot failed fiber links and perform root-cause analysis.
• Experience with single-mode and multimode fiber.
• Fusion splicing experience; ribbon/mass fusion and loose-tube fiber experience preferred.
• Understanding of cable/connectivity manufacturer specifications and certification requirements.
• Ability to review, validate, organize, and deliver fiber certification reports to the client.
• Experience with rack-and-stack and high-density data center fiber deployments.
• Proven ability to lead and teach fiber technicians/test crews.
• Strong documentation, QA/QC, and communication skills.
• Must be willing to travel up to 90%.

Preferred Certifications

FOA CFOT, BICSI, Fluke Networks, EXFO, VIAVI, or manufacturer-specific fiber certifications.

Ideal Candidate

A senior datacenter fiber professional who can lead the testing operation, troubleshoot complex failures, ensure manufacturer/customer compliance, manage technicians, and own the final certification deliverables through client acceptance.
