Job summary

SMX is seeking a Cyber Security Engineer remote from the United States to support security engineering, compliance, and risk management for cloud systems aligned with NIST SP 800-53, FedRAMP, and DoD IL4–6. You will advise partners and customers on federal requirements, develop authorization artifacts, and lead audit readiness efforts.

Qualifications

• Provide cybersecurity engineering and compliance support for FedRAMP and DoD-authorized cloud environments.
• Develop and maintain SSPs, SARs, POA&Ms, and other authorization artifacts.
• Support RMF-based authorization planning and audit readiness.
• Leverage GRC platforms and automation to streamline evidence collection and reporting.
• Collaborate with cloud/DevOps teams to implement controls in AWS/Azure/hybrid environments.
• Translate federal security requirements into practical controls and processes.
• Review changes for security impact and maintain authorization boundaries.

Responsibilities

• Provide security engineering and compliance support for cloud environments including IL4–6.
• Advise partners and customers on federal security requirements and audit readiness.
• Develop and maintain authorization documentation and evidence.
• Support ongoing authorization activities across FedRAMP/RMF with remediation planning.
• Automate evidence collection and reporting using scripts and APIs.
• Design repeatable processes to improve accuracy of artifacts.
• Collaborate with DevOps to validate controls across cloud platforms.
