Job summary

Castro & Company is seeking a Federal Accountant with 3+ years of federal accounting experience for remote work. You will analyze transactions, reconcile ledgers, and support audits for a federal agency, ensuring accuracy and compliance with USSGL, GAAP, and FASAB standards.

The role requires SQL, SAP/FBMS, Treasury systems expertise, strong Excel skills, and a U.S. citizenship. A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required, with the ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from an accredited university.
• Minimum 3 years of federal financial management experience.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
• U.S. citizenship and ability to pass government suitability.

Responsibilities

• Analyze a large volume of accounting transactions with accuracy; research variances and prepare entries.
• Use SQL queries to research abnormal balances and recommend corrective actions.
• Reconcile general ledger to subsidiary ledger across multiple data sources and USSGL fund analytics.
• Support audits and respond to PBC requests; provide accounts receivable/payable and GL support.
• Establish and modify accounting element tables, fields and system records.
