Job summary

Orion Placement seeks an experienced family law attorney licensed in Washington to take ownership of a diverse caseload, including complex divorce, custody, and financial matters. Remote within WA with occasional office at Redmond-area when desired, and in-person court appearances as required.

The role emphasizes autonomy, collaboration, and a path to partnership within a supportive team of attorneys and staff.

Qualifications

• Active Washington State Bar license required.
• 2+ years of family law experience required.
• Experience independently managing family law matters.
• Courtroom, hearing, motion practice, discovery, and legal drafting experience.
• Strong client communication, negotiation, writing, and advocacy skills.
• Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team.
• Professional judgment and confidence interacting directly with clients and appearing in court.
• Established caseload or portable business preferred.

Responsibilities

• Independently manage a family law caseload from initial consultation through resolution.
• Prepare for and appear at hearings, motions, mediations, settlement conferences, and trials.
• Draft substantive motions, pleadings, declarations, discovery requests/responses, and other documents.
• Handle complex financial disclosures and property division in divorce matters.
• Advocate for clients in child custody, parenting plans, child support, spousal support, and domestic violence matters.
• Develop practical litigation and settlement strategies based on client goals.
• Communicate with clients providing clear, thoughtful guidance through emotionally challenging matters.
• Negotiate effectively with opposing counsel and be prepared to litigate when necessary.
• Collaborate with attorneys, paralegals, and staff to deliver excellent client service.

Location

Remote within Washington State, with flexibility to work from the Redmond-area office when desired. Because this position involves court appearances and client meetings, candidates must be able to attend in-person proceedings when required.

Note

Candidates must be actively licensed to practice law in Washington and have at least 2+ years of family law experience. Attorneys who can independently manage a caseload are strongly encouraged to apply. An established caseload or portable business is a plus, not a requirement.
