Job summary

Construction Association of Michigan is seeking a Facilities Capital Projects Specialist to manage site improvements, facility modifications, and new construction projects. You will oversee planning, specifications, bidding, and payments while coordinating with contractors and district staff.

This exempt role requires multiple project assignments, strong communication, and a solid understanding of construction and HVAC systems.

Qualifications

• Five+ years of experience managing facilities/construction projects.
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
• Effective communication and negotiation skills.
• Strong planning and problem-solving skills.
• General knowledge of construction and HVAC systems.
• Read and interpret construction documents, blueprints, plans and specs.
• Knowledge of project budgeting and cost control.

Responsibilities

• Review plans, estimates, and schedules for site improvements and new construction projects.
• Develop formal project specifications for bids and review bid specs.
• Coordinate with contractors; solicit bids and review proposals.
• Review payment requests and coordinate payment applications.
• Monitor project progress and ensure on-time delivery per policies and procedures.
• Prepare reports and maintain project records; ensure codes and standards compliance.
• Coordinate with site Administrators and district personnel; maintain communications.
• Attend pre-bid and pre-construction meetings; support post-bid processes.
