Job summary

Paragon Excess and Surplus is seeking an experienced E&S Casualty Underwriter to manage an existing portfolio, grow within the region, and build strong broker relationships. The role offers underwriting authority based on experience and remote work options within the United States.

The candidate should have 3–5 years of E&S underwriting experience, strong communication skills, and an ability to work independently or with teams. Travel is expected around 25%.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
• 3–5 years of E&S Casualty Underwriting experience preferred.
• Strong existing marketing relationships within their assigned territory with experience in production underwriting.
• In-depth underwriting expertise across general classes and ability to handle complex accounts.
• Self-starter, organized, able to work independently or collaboratively.

Responsibilities

• Handle an existing portfolio of E&S Casualty business, meet growth goals and ensure profitability for the region.
• Create visibility in the assigned territory by communicating underwriting appetite and generating new opportunities via broker relationships.
• Work independently with underwriting authority based on experience level.
• Cultivate key broker relationships to maintain a steady stream of business within our appetite.
• Provide clients with service that supports the positive image of the company.
• Cross-market with other Paragon lines; meet brokers and insureds as required.
