Job summary

Nivoda is seeking a Trade Compliance Specialist to own end-to-end documentation, classifications, broker relationships, and the duty drawback program for shipments across borders. This role partners with Legal & Compliance and Fulfilment, operating with high autonomy within a fast-growing global marketplace.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in global trade compliance or customs operations, with a track record on US, UK, EU import/export specifically.
• Direct experience managing customs broker relationships and shipment documentation at volume.
• Experience filing duty drawback or tariff reclaim claims.
• Comfortable working as an individual contributor with real autonomy.
• Based in the EU or UK, with the flexibility to work across time zones as we scale globally.

Responsibilities

• Prepare all shipment documentation and commercial invoices, ensuring accurate documentation from brokers and carriers.
• Apply HTS classifications and country-of-origin determinations across shipment processes.
• Manage day-to-day customs broker relationships and monitor broker performance.
• Monitor duties as part of landed shipping costs and file claims with customs brokers when errors occur.
• Resolve routine customs queries during clearance and ensure import/export declarations are accurate.
• Own the duty drawback program day to day and coordinate with Livingstone for claims.
• Monitor the US import bond and ensure ongoing compliance for our main lane.
• Collaborate with manufacturers (starting with India) to support compliant, duty-efficient shipping.
• Identify duty-saving opportunities through FTAs (e.g., India-UK, EU-UK, EU-India).
• Build out trade compliance processes as the business expands into new markets.
