Job summary

The American Heart Association, Inc. is seeking a part-time Epidemiology Intern to support the Annual Heart Disease and Stroke Statistical Update.

You will work with national surveillance datasets, perform analyses, generate reports, and help develop reproducible research procedures in a nonprofit setting. You will extract and summarize data on prevalence and mortality, assist with data collection and reporting, and prepare statistical tables and SOPs.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Epidemiology, Public Health, Statistics, or a related field.
• Working knowledge of SAS and/or R (cloud-based) required.
• Interest in chronic disease data; focus on chronic disease initiatives.
• Ability to conduct quantitative analyses and develop procedures/documentation.
• Experience with AI tools to support data analysis is preferred.
• Coursework or experience in epidemiologic methods, statistics, and population health research.
• Strong attention to detail and data quality.

Responsibilities

• Extracting, analyzing and summarizing prevalence, mortality, and health care data using national data sets.
• Assisting with collection, management, analysis, and reporting of cardiovascular disease and stroke data.
• Creating and updating statistical tables, figures, charts, and supporting documentation for reports.
