Job summary

The American Heart Association is offering a remote internship to support our Development Team, including Laurel Highlands Heart Ball, Blair Go Red for Women Events, and Central PA Women of Impact Campaign. You will help plan, execute, and follow up on life‑saving campaigns, gaining hands‑on nonprofit experience.

This paid internship provides 20 hours/week, runs 1/25/27–5/7/27, and includes access to Heart U and professional development resources. Travel to Blair and Cambria Counties is required.

Qualifications

• Candidates who are seniors or graduate students pursuing a degree in business, communications, nonprofit fundraising, or event management.
• Highly skilled with Canva. Basic Adobe experience.
• Experience/interest in promotion, sales, or fundraising.
• Demonstrated excellence in written communication skills.
• Demonstrated skills in effective one‑on‑one and group communications and comfort with working professionally with all levels of community leaders, volunteers, and staff.
• Effective oral and presentation communication skills.
• Proficient in multiple social media platforms.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment managing multiple priorities involving multiple entities.
• Intermediate to excellent proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
• Reliable transportation to and throughout Central PA, specifically, Blair and Cambria Counties.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship, now or in the future. For any roles working remotely, the work must also be performed inside the United States, not in a foreign country.

Responsibilities

• Assist with planning, coordinating, and executing pre‑event logistics, and on‑site event management for multiple community events.
• Assist with pre‑event outreach to attendees of social events and members of giving societies such as Cor Vitae and Circle of Red membership.
• Assist with sponsor presentation preparation and gathering materials for sponsor follow‑up after meetings, helping to maintain relationships with key stakeholders.
• Assist with pulling reports, data entry, and organizing event‑related information to track progress and outcomes.
• Assist with administrative tasks such as preparing printed materials, assembling thank‑you cards, and organizing event supplies.
