Job summary

Ampirical, a leader in power grid solutions, is seeking an EPC Substation Project Manager. This role is remote with regular site visits, based in the Greater Atlanta area, and may be based in the Duluth office.

You will oversee engineering, procurement, construction, scheduling, budgeting, and client coordination across multidisciplinary teams to deliver reliable infrastructure for the evolving energy grid.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
• 10–15 years (Level III) or 15+ years (Sr) in EPC substation project management.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering and construction teams.
• Strong understanding of project financials, forecasting, and scheduling.
• Experience with Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage the full EPC lifecycle for utility substation projects.
• Lead project execution across safety, scope, schedule, budget, quality, and risk.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams across design, protection & controls, civil/structural, procurement and construction.
• Develop and maintain project schedules, staffing plans, cost forecasts, and client reporting.
• Oversee contractor performance, material procurement, outages, and field execution.
• Serve as primary point of contact for utility clients, vendors, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders.
• Lead project meetings, change management, and issue resolution.
• Ensure deliverables meet client expectations and Ampirical QA/QC requirements.
• Support proposal development, project planning, and resource forecasting.
• Travel to client sites, substations, and vendor facilities as needed.
