Job summary

The Office of State Human Resources is seeking an Environmental Technician I (S) to support the NCDEQ Washington Regional Office in data collection and field interviews. The role involves creel census interviews and processing biological data across multiple counties.

This temporary position requires weekend work and offers an hourly rate of $16.00 with potential health coverage under the HDHP for eligible temporary staff.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in environmental, biological, engineering, environmental or natural resource sciences or closely related curriculum, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience with collecting and organizing field data and samples.
• Familiarity with basic data analysis and reporting is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct creel census interviews at waterbody access points in the Albemarle Sound Management Area across Chowan, Washington, and Bertie counties.
• Determine fishing location, fishing time, catch, species identification, size, and other biological parameters.
• Organize, code, and compile data for storage and analysis; weekend work is required; home-based position.
