Job summary

UCAR seeks a technical engineer to support COMET program capacity development, focusing on low-cost 3D-PAWS sensors and related observation platforms. You will help deploy and train partners, print and assemble sensors, and troubleshoot networks across international sites.

The role requires hands-on sensor experience, mentoring skills, and the ability to work with diverse teams while traveling internationally as needed.

Qualifications

• B.S. degree in Engineering or a science field and three years related experience as an Engineer I (or equivalent) or an equivalent education/experience.
• Experience using, maintaining, or designing mechanical and electrical/electronic systems.
• Hands-on experience with environmental observation sensors is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Support field deployments and training programs, including printing, assembling, and testing 3D-PAWS sensors.
• Lead training workshops and assist international partners with sensor networks.
• Collaborate with scientists and software engineers to improve sensors and equipment using 3D-print technology.
