DEPT OF ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY in Arizona seeks an Environmental Science Specialist to review permit applications and draft AZPDES pollutant limits. The role covers researching, drafting permits, and ensuring compliance with surface water regulations.

This position supports the Surface Water Protection Unit within the Water Quality Division and offers remote work within Arizona. The ideal candidate has a BS in environmental science or related field, with experience in environmental calculations

Qualifications

• Knowledge of the federal Clean Water Act and AZPDES/NPDES regulations.
• Ability to perform complex environmental calculations and analyze datasets.
• Ability to prepare clear reports and communicate findings clearly.

Responsibilities

• Review permit applications and draft pollutant limits under AZPDES.
• Conduct research and draft technical guidance documents.
• Manage short- and long-term environmental projects under supervision.
• Respond to inquiries from stakeholders promptly and professionally.
• Review documents for adherence to Arizona surface water rules and regulations.
