Job summary

ADEQ is seeking an Environmental Science Specialist 2-3 Permit Writer to review permit applications and draft AZPDES permits. You will conduct calculations, synthesize data, and provide technical guidance to ensure compliance with state and federal water regulations. Remote work within Arizona is available for a full-time role.

The position emphasizes independent and collaborative work, with opportunities to contribute to surface water protection and environmental health.

Qualifications

• Experience with AZPDES/NPDES and the Clean Water Act.
• Ability to perform environmental calculations and data analysis.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Review, evaluate, and process complex surface water protection permit applications.
• Perform environmental calculations and process large datasets.
• Serve as a technical resource to facilities, entities, and the public.
• Assist in researching, drafting, and updating guidance documents and SOPs.
• Manage short- and long-term environmental projects under supervision.
• Respond to customer inquiries promptly and accurately.
• Review technical documents for adherence to AW rules and regulations.
