Job summary

Lever, Inc. is seeking an Enterprise AI Governance & Trust Layer Engineer based in Italy for a remote role focused on securing and governing enterprise use of generative AI.

You will design trust and privacy layers to control data flows between internal systems and LLMs, and build real-time protections for PII and safety controls. Collaborating with security and data teams, you will implement policy-as-code guardrails, audit trails, and robust authentication mechanisms to strengthen enterprise

Qualifications

• 5–9 years engineering experience, with 3+ years in AI safety, governance, or security pipelines.
• Strong Python, regex, data classification, API design and cloud security.
• Understanding of AI security risks including prompt injection, data leakage, and token constraints.
• Experience building privacy layers and governance controls between enterprise systems and LLMs.
• Knowledge of authentication, authorization, secure API design, and enterprise access controls.
• Ability to translate privacy and security requirements into automated guardrails.
• Strong analytical and collaborative skills across security and data teams.
• CISSP/CDP or equivalent cloud security certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Design and deploy enterprise AI trust layers and governance middleware to secure data boundaries.
• Implement real-time PII detection and masking using regex, NER, and data-classification tech.
• Develop policy-as-code guardrails for GDPR/CCPA/HIPAA compliance.
• Build immutable AI transaction audit trails for inputs, outputs, and access activity.
• Implement toxicity, bias, and content-safety controls using moderation models.
• Defend against prompt injections, jailbreaks, and malicious payloads.
• Configure secure API proxy architectures, OAuth 2.0, RBAC, and access controls.
• Collaborate with security and data teams to integrate governance into AI workflows.
