Job summary

EPAM Systems is seeking an AI Architect to design AI-native architectures and enterprise AI solutions for large clients. You will define structure, guardrails, and evaluations, then guide teams and clients through trade-offs and decisions.

This role emphasizes problem framing, requirements negotiation, and collaboration with delivery and pre-sales to shape proposals. Remote in the US with a focus on governance, cost models, and scalable patterns.

Qualifications

• Experience architecting AI-native systems in production.
• Proven software architect with AI initiative in last year.
• Solid experience as solution/software/enterprise architect with delivery accountability.
• Depth in distributed systems, integration, cloud, and data-flow at enterprise scale.
• Ability to surface conflicting requirements and make explicit trade-offs.
• Experience presenting options, costs, and risks to non-technical leaders.
• Habit of writing architecture decision records and design documents.
• Hands-on coding experience to validate constraints and prototypes.
• Understanding of AI-assisted development and the architect’s evolving role.

Responsibilities

• Design end-to-end architectures for AI-native solutions including orchestration, retrieval, tool integration, and agent autonomy.
• Ensure alignment to business scope and explain what is left out and why.
• Convert ambiguous requirements into explicit business decisions with accountable owners.
• Document architectural trade-offs and how they affect cost, quality, and acquisition.
• Define evaluation strategy to verify business fit beyond fluent output.
• Write constraints and architectural fitness criteria for engineering teams.
• Determine where humans stay in the loop for regulated or contractual decisions.
• Collaborate with EPAM delivery teams and presales to shape proposals and reviews.
• Build proofs of concept or reference implementations when evidence is needed.
• Contribute to EPAM’s AI architecture practice with reference patterns and mentoring.
