Job summary

Osmose Utilities Services seeks a Field Engineering Supervisor I to oversee safety, productivity and data integrity of our Factory Grade diagnostics for underground cables at customer sites in the U.S. utility market.

You will supervise field personnel, coordinate with remote teams, and ensure proper use of instrumentation and procedures. The role is remote and may be based anywhere in the continental United States, with up to 70% travel.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in Electronics, Engineering Technology or equivalent.
• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, engineering technology or equivalent a plus.
• Experience testing power systems a plus.
• At least one year experience in power utilities field service a plus.
• Knowledge of fundamentals of electrical and electronic engineering and systems.
• Knowledge of fundamentals of analog and digital signal processing theory.

Responsibilities

• Prepare for field assignments using pre-project and project plan information.
• Formulate project plans on a daily basis with customer field supervisors to achieve objectives.
• Provide on-site training on safety, test equipment and procedures.
• Scan test environment for factors affecting cable performance and diagnostics results.
• Direct field crews and contractors on-site for proper test execution.
• Lead field approaches to meet customer needs and coordinate with remote support staff.
• Maintain positive relationships with customer representatives across departments.
• Oversee Osmose’s diagnostics for underground cables at customer sites in the U.S. utility market.
• Troubleshoot and repair diagnostics equipment including analog/digital circuitry and fiber interfaces.
• Operate advanced diagnostics equipment, including next-generation models during field tests.
• Acquire on-site test data and apply partial discharge principles.
• Assess whether on-site data provides meaningful analysis and meets standards.
• Meet field performance standards with audited results.
• Perform cable matching procedures as required.
• Record technical/administrative data related to diagnostics daily.
• Troubleshoot electromechanical equipment and systems and implement solutions.
• Escalate critical questions to remote support promptly.
• Comply with safety and procedures and meet deadlines.
• Identify issues with procedures and processes.
• Meet certification and safety requirements in a timely manner.
• Participate in meetings, training, and activities in-person or remotely.
• Lead assist crew in cable reliability actions such as mitigation and splicing.
• Move the Mobile Diagnostic Unit as needed between testing regions.
• Maintain and coordinate maintenance for the Mobile Diagnostic Unit.
• Provide shadow training to field associates when assigned.
