Job summary

Ent is seeking an Endpoint Engineer to own the lightweight agent across Windows, macOS, and Linux, focusing on collection, policy evaluation, enforcement, and transport. You’ll design and deliver end-to-end features, manage packaging, enrollment, and safe updates, and keep resource use tight on devices you cannot log into.

You will drive offline modes, diagnostics, and robust testing, while collaborating with platform teams to evolve APIs and ensure compatibility across releases.

Qualifications

• 5+ years building production software in C/C++ or Swift, including native desktop or endpoint work.
• Experience with OS internals and APIs on Windows, macOS, or Linux.

Responsibilities

• Build and own components of Ent's single lightweight agent across Windows, macOS, or Linux, including collection, enrichment, policy evaluation, and enforcement.
• Deliver features end to end: design, implementation, tests, telemetry, rollout, and monitoring.
• Own agent lifecycle engineering: packaging/installers, enrollment, configuration delivery, update, rollback, uninstall.
• Keep the agent fast and stable: constrain resources, detect regressions, ensure reliability on machines you cannot log into.
• Implement offline and degraded-mode behavior: local queueing, retry, caching, and edge-case handling.
• Apply secure engineering fundamentals: least privilege, signed updates, secret handling, safe parsing of inputs.
• Develop diagnostics, logging, health reporting, and support tooling for remote troubleshooting.
• Own test infrastructure: unit/integration tests, cross-platform CI, OS-version matrices, upgrade/downgrade paths, soak tests.
• Integrate agent signals with backend services and extension APIs, coordinating with platform teams.
