Job summary

Karman, Inc. is seeking an Embedded Firmware Engineer to develop production-grade firmware for power-grid edge computing platforms.

You will write real-time C/C++ on constrained microcontrollers, assist with hardware bring-up, and extend CI/CD with Python, Docker, and GitHub Actions. This remote role can be performed from anywhere in the United States, with preference for Michigan, and offers a base salary range of $120,000–$160,000 plus stock options.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
• 0–3 years embedded firmware experience, including internships or coursework projects.
• C and C++ with RTOS or bare-metal programming on a microcontroller.
• Familiarity with SPI, I2C, UART, or Ethernet.
• Hands-on hardware experience and debugging tools.

Responsibilities

• Develop, test, and deploy firmware features across multiple hardware platforms.
• Assist with hardware bring-up and collaborate with hardware engineering teams.
• Write and debug real-time embedded software in C/C++ on resource-constrained microcontrollers.
• Implement and debug communication protocols (SPI, I2C, UART, CAN, Ethernet, LTE, WiFi).
• Uphold firmware engineering standards, including coding conventions and documentation.
