Job summary

Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife seeks an Assistant Regional Habitat Program Manager (ARHPM) for South Central Region 3 to lead habitat conservation efforts and regulatory program implementation. The role oversees hydraulic permitting, land use planning, forest practices, and restoration initiatives while coordinating with Tribal and state/federal partners.

The ARHPM will guide staff, ensure policy adherence, and contribute to regional and statewide strategies, shaping habitat

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in fisheries, wildlife management, natural resource science, environmental science, or a related field.
• Five (5) years of professional experience in fish management or fish research, wildlife management, habitat management, or other environmental/natural resource field.
• Valid unrestricted Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Provide immediate management, supervision, and guidance of Habitat Program staff within South Central Region 3.
• Coach, mentor, and manage workload/prioritization and performance in hydraulic project approvals and land use actions.
• Develop and maintain a consistent state-wide approach to policies, procedures, and guidance with SMT.
• Oversee policy liaison work, stakeholder engagement, and strategic planning with regional and state-wide impact.
