Job summary

The Watershed Assessment and Management Section of the State of Delaware seeks an Environmental Scientist III to conduct stream habitat assessments, collect and identify benthic macroinvertebrates, and perform water quality analyses to protect aquatic life and public health.

You will prepare permits, conduct technical reviews, interpret environmental regulations, and collaborate with state agencies and partners on restoration projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Life, Physical, or Applied Science or a related field.
• Two years' experience analyzing and evaluating scientific data.
• Two years' experience interpreting environmental laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies and procedures.
• Two years' experience in technical report writing.

Responsibilities

• Conducts field studies or inspections and evaluations for compliance with permit and regulatory requirements.
• Performs statistical analysis of data.
• Conducts technical reviews and makes recommendations on permit applications or other regulatory submissions.
• Prepares permits, technical reports and enforcement documents.
• Responds to technical/regulatory inquiries from state, local, and federal agencies and others.
