Job summary

Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control is seeking an Environmental Scientist III to conduct stream habitat and water quality assessments, collect and interpret data, and support restoration planning and monitoring.

The role collaborates with program staff, other agencies, stakeholders and project partners to protect and improve Delaware's aquatic resources. Requires a bachelor’s degree and 2+ years in data analysis and regulatory interpretation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Life, Physical, or Applied Science or related field.
• Two years' experience analyzing and evaluating scientific data.
• Two years' experience interpreting environmental laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies and procedures.
• Two years' experience in technical report writing.

Responsibilities

• Conducts field studies or inspections and evaluations for permit compliance; analyzes data and makes recommendations.
• Performs statistical analysis of data.
• Reviews permit applications to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Prepares permits, technical reports and enforcement documents.
• Responds to technical/regulatory inquiries from agencies and the public.
