Job summary

Intelligent Solutions Axis Inc in Washington, DC area seeks a skilled Cartography Designer to lead map design initiatives, ensure accuracy, and drive usability of geospatial products across our organization.

You will work with GIS software (ArcGIS), UX principles, and data visualization techniques to create clear, accessible maps, collaborate with surveyors and planners, and stay updated on new data sources and software.

Qualifications

Experience with GIS software and map creation.
Understanding of cartography principles and data visualization.
Ability to analyze spatial data and apply statistical methods.
Familiarity with geospatial data formats (shapefiles, GeoTIFF, KML).
Knowledge of map projection systems and data sources.

Responsibilities

Gather data from satellites, aerials, surveys, and GPS.
Analyze data to identify trends and relationships using spatial methods.
Create maps using GIS to represent features and boundaries.
Validate data accuracy and perform quality control on maps.
Stay updated on cartography techniques and software.
Update maps and databases reflecting changes and deliver timely updates.
Troubleshoot GIS data, design, and software issues with the team.
Ensure compliance with copyright, privacy, and data regulations.
Collaborate with surveyors, planners, and technologists to integrate geospatial data.
