Job summary

NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene is seeking an Investigator to serve as Clearance Administrator for the Central Clearance Unit. The role will conduct comprehensive background checks for childcare staff and manage related processes.

You will draft determinations, provide technical assistance, and coordinate with childcare operators, City and State agencies to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations in childcare settings.

Qualifications

• Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
• Highly organized, detail oriented, and solution driven.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience with data entry and querying large datasets is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Review background clearance applications for completeness and accuracy and process checks within timeframe.
• Manage a caseload of background clearance requests for licensed and prospective childcare providers.
• Examine, analyze and verify records, documents and other information.
• Draft determination letters and conduct outreach to providers and staff regarding clearances.
• Provide technical assistance to childcare operators and staff regarding background clearances to obtain/maintain licenses.
• Ensure proper storage and handling of confidential information and update databases per protocols.
• Liaise between City and State agencies, communities, parents and the public regarding Early Childhood Education.
