Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Remote Electrical Design Engineer to contribute to groundbreaking renewable energy projects. You will design, develop, and optimize electrical systems for solar and wind installations, collaborating with a globally distributed team from anywhere in South Africa.

Key responsibilities include creating schematics and BOMs, performing power systems analyses, selecting components, and documenting designs while staying current with industry advancements in grid integration

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical system design for power/renewable energy.
• Proficiency with electrical design software (AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN or similar).

Responsibilities

• Design electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, and component layouts for renewable energy systems.
• Perform power systems analysis including load flow, fault current, and protection studies.
• Select components (inverters, transformers, switchgear, cabling) for performance and compatibility.
• Collaborate with remote teams, managers, and stakeholders to ensure project success.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation, specifications, and BOMs for new designs.
• Stay updated on advancements in electrical engineering and renewable energy technologies.
