Job summary

Armada builds rugged, modular data centers and needs an Electrical Design Engineer to own the electrical design from single-line through commissioning, across time zones. You will review vendor submittals, support manufacturing partners, and contribute to global deployments of high‑density AI compute and mission‑critical facilities.

Work with mechanical, controls, and fire protection engineers, push back when necessary, and occasionally travel internationally for deployments and partner reviews.

Qualifications

  • US Citizen.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited program.
  • 3–7 years of post‑degree experience in electrical design, with at least 2 years in data centers, mission‑critical facilities, industrial power, or equivalent complex power distribution.
  • Working knowledge of NEC (NFPA 70) and ideally IEC‑based national codes; multi‑jurisdictional design experience is a plus.
  • Hands‑on experience with protection coordination and arc flash software (SKM PowerTools, ETAP, EasyPower, or similar).
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical and/or Revit MEP, plus Bluebeam Revu for submittal markup.
  • Familiarity with UPS systems, medium‑/low‑ voltage switchgear, transformers, and generator/ATS integration.
  • Ability to read mechanical and structural drawings to catch interdisciplinary conflicts.
  • Clear written communication; able to write RFIs, submittals, and memos.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain electrical designs for modular containerized data centers: single-line diagrams, load calculations, panel schedules, grounding, cable sizing, and raceway layouts across multiple LV standards.
  • Run protective device coordination, arc flash, and short‑circuit studies in SKM, ETAP, or equivalent; produce labels and coordination reports.
  • Review and redline vendor submittals for UPS, battery, cooling distribution units, switchgear, PDUs, and generator/ATS packages; ensure conformance to specs.
  • Support manufacturing partners: answer RFIs, resolve layout/piping/cable routing conflicts, and participate in factory witness testing.
  • Contribute to multi‑jurisdictional compliance across international electrical, fire, and mission‑critical facility codes; coordinate with AHJs.
  • Produce engineering documentation: SOQs, design basis memos, block diagrams, commissioning procedures.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, controls, structural, fire protection engineers and external consultants; push back when needed.
  • Support field commissioning and troubleshooting, including occasional international travel to manufacturing partner sites.
