Job summary

Caterpillar is seeking a qualified Electrical Engineer to join the Electric Power Division, focusing on the design, development, and implementation of generator control switchgear systems. You will deliver automation solutions for complex power systems, executing retrofit and new projects from concept through commissioning.

The role requires strong PLC/SCADA experience, the ability to read schematics, and collaboration with dealers, factory teams, and CAD designers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field or equivalent experience.
• Experience with automation and controls in power systems preferred.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and blueprints.

Responsibilities

• Identify retrofit opportunities and define project scope with dealer and factory teams.
• Design, program, test, and commission LV/MV generator paralleling control systems.
• Convert legacy PLC programs and validate performance.
• Develop and modify PLC and HMI applications using standard templates.
• Collaborate with CAD to produce wiring and assembly drawings.
• Provide technical support to sales and product support teams.
