Job Description

Insight Global is seeking an Electrical Controls Engineer to join a power generation company located in Glastonbury, CT. This person will have an electrical controls background and will be joining the Electrical and Controls Engineering group. The ideal candidate will have 1+ year of relevant professional experience. Day to day, this person will perform controls engineering and consulting services. Main responsibilities include working with the team to create reliable and secure instrumentation and controls system solutions for generating stations and ancillary equipment. Projects range from small utility upgrades to large power plant constructions. Experience with Woodward Control Systems such as Woodward Micronet plus, Woodward Flex 500 Controls, and related software (Gap 1-4) is preferred. A background in the gas turbine industry and knowledge of standards like ANSI, IEC, IEEE, and SIL are also advantageous.

Skills And Requirements

• Design electrical and controls system solutions based on engineering principles and customer specifications.
• Experience with Woodward Control Systems (Micronet plus, Flex 500, software editor Gap 1-4).
• Programming and commissioning experience is required.
• Experience in electrical, instrumentation, and control engineering for industrial facilities like natural gas metering and power stations.
• Proficient in creating and updating electrical drawings, schematics, and I/O lists using AutoCAD. Knowledge of gas turbine controls, plant operation, and safety interlocks is a plus.
• Ability to work independently and complete tasks with minimal supervision.
• Strong critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Attention to detail, teamwork, organization, and facilitation skills.
